"A teen just trying to figure it out" is basically about a girl in her sophomore year of high school, her name is Tavi Gevinson. She's really inspiring and determined, she even started her own online blog called "Style Rookie" and online magazine called "rookiemagazine.com". Especially at so young, she's really passionate about fashion and holds very strong beliefs about feminism.
The question she asks herself in the beginning of her talk and answers throughout is "What makes a strong female character?" Tavi goes into depth and explains how television shows and movies and other kinds of entertainment have influence over teenage girls; including her own website. Later on, she gives us a rundown on the mind of a women, how they think, and so on. She finally comes to a conclusion after rambling about women, "What makes a strong female character?" and the answer is .......a female who has weaknesses and flaws. Tavi narrows down her talk into a category about "teenz" specifically they are contradictory and "still trying to figure it out" .
Throughout this talk, it was really inspiring to hear someone so young, only a year older than me hold such strong views on feminism.
